A Stellar Lineup of Speakers and Performers

From September 20 to 22 at the Embassy Suites in Downey, CA, Revolución 2024 features an impressive roster of speakers and performers. Leading the charge is award-winning actor and producer Jon Huertas, celebrated for his captivating roles and ardent advocacy for diversity in media. Joining him is Downey Mayor Mario Trujillo, whose dedication to community service and cultural heritage adds a poignant perspective to the event.


Comedy enthusiasts are in for a treat with performances by Aida Rodriguez, Jose Maestas II, Gadiel del Orbe, and Daniela Ines Calvo. These comedic talents promise to bring the house down with their sharp wit and relatable humor, reflecting the unique experiences of the Latino/a/e community.


Opening Night Gala: A Grand Kickoff

The festivities kick off on Friday, September 20, with the Opening Night Gala. This elegant event will see luminaries like Jon Huertas, TodoWafi founder Rafael Fernandez Jr., and Mayor Mario Trujillo gracing the stage. The night will be enlivened by performances from the Ocandeniye Dance Company and Chacombo, who will showcase traditional dances celebrating Latino heritage. Following the performances, attendees can dance the night away with a spirited salsa and bachata session, bringing a dynamic close to the gala.


Special guests such as acclaimed bilingual poet Solany Lara will add a soulful touch with a poetry reading. The presence of high-profile attendees like Basilio Cerdan, Vanessa Morales Sirias, and Carlos Castillo underscores the festival’s significance and allure.


Empowering Discussions and Workshops

Saturday, September 21, is packed with a diverse array of workshops, seminars, and panel discussions. The day begins with an introduction and keynote remarks by Danay Escanaverino, CEO of LunaSol Media. Jon Huertas will later moderate a thought-provoking panel exploring the cultural experiences of Spanish and non-Spanish speakers.


Rafael Fernandez Jr. will lead a discussion on Latino entrepreneurship, emphasizing shared challenges and triumphs within the community. Practical workshops focusing on business growth and Spanish language learning will be conducted by experts from Chase Bank and Sharon Cruz, offering valuable insights and skills.


Open to the public, an exhibitor village will showcase local vendors, providing a platform for community businesses and artisans to shine.


A Focus on Mental Health and Storytelling

Sunday, September 22, delves deeper into critical issues with workshops and panels addressing mental health, immigration, and the arts. Acclaimed actress Diana-Maria Rivas will deliver the day’s keynote address, setting the tone for an enriching experience.


Adriana Alejandre, founder of Latinx Therapy, will moderate a pivotal discussion on destigmatizing mental health within the Latino/a/e community. Esteemed writer Rafael Agustin will offer a reading from his work "Illegally Yours," followed by an engaging Q&A session.


Panels throughout the day will feature discussions on literature, the film industry, and personal narratives, empowering attendees to embrace and share their stories.


The festival will culminate on Sunday evening with a keynote speech from Todo Wafi Founder Rafael Fernandez Jr. and a finale comedy night headlined by Aida Rodriguez, alongside performances by Gadiel del Orbe, Jose Maestas II, and Daniela Ines Calvo. This closing event promises laughter, reflection, and a sense of community solidarity.
