In the heart of Plano, Texas, the conference room at Frito-Lay headquarters buzzes with electrifying anticipation. Eight visionary entrepreneurs, each bearing dreams as vibrant and diverse as their innovative products, have come together for the launch of PepsiCo’s Greenhouse Accelerator Program: Juntos Crecemos Edition. This isn't merely a business accelerator—it's a grand celebration of culture, innovation, and sustainability.

PepsiCo, Inc. has proudly announced these eight trailblazing finalists for the program's second year, each selected for their passion for Hispanic flavors and their unwavering commitment to bettering our planet. With an initial boost of $20,000 to fuel their creative business solutions, these entrepreneurs are embarking on a transformative five-month mentorship journey, culminating in the extraordinary opportunity to win an additional $100,000 to propel their dreams to new heights.

The Dreamers and Their Stories

JAS: A Movement in a Glass

JAS from Dallas, Texas, isn’t just about crafting alcohol-free cocktails; it’s about creating a movement. Inspired by traditional Mexican flavors, JAS’s Paloma Libre is infused with Ashwaganda, embodying a lifestyle of freedom and authenticity. Founder Maria believes in celebrating individuality, a value that resonates deeply with her vibrant ‘Mexican pink’ concoctions. "We want everyone to feel bold and free," she says, her eyes sparkling with passion.

JaziLupini: Revolutionizing Pasta

In the heart of Rochester, New York, JaziLupini is revolutionizing pasta. Founder Luis, inspired by his grandmother's recipes, creates plant-based, gluten-free pasta that’s as nutritious as it is delicious. “I wanted to bring the rich flavors of Latin American cuisine to a product that everyone can enjoy, regardless of dietary restrictions,” he shares. Each bite of JaziLupini pasta is a step towards a healthier, more inclusive dining experience.

Mayawell: Tradition Meets Innovation

Mayawell from Austin, Texas, led by the enthusiastic Juan, offers Mexican-inspired prebiotic sodas. Sweetened with organic agave and Active Agave inulin, these drinks are a blend of tradition and innovation. “Our sodas are not just beverages; they're a tribute to our heritage and a step towards a healthier lifestyle,” Juan explains, as he pours a glass of pineapple mango with turmeric.

Nemi: A Taste of Mexico

In the Windy City, Regina is turning nopales into crunchy, delectable snacks. Nemi Snacks, inspired by her childhood memories of Mexican street markets, combines seeds and spices to create unique flavors. “Every flavor tells a story of our rich culinary heritage,” Regina says, handing out samples with a smile.

PAKTLI: Honoring Heritage

Artisan super snacks are the heart of PAKTLI Foods, founded by the meticulous Carlos in Cincinnati, Ohio. Using organic puffed amaranth, quinoa, and millet, Carlos crafts treats that are both delicious and nourishing. “Our snacks are inspired by 16th-century Mexican alegrías, a reminder of our roots and our commitment to quality,” Carlos notes, his voice filled with pride.

Pricklee: Sustainable Refreshment

Pricklee from New York, New York, offers natural hydration beverages made from real prickly pear cactus, the brainchild of Elena. “Our drinks are a taste of Mexico, packed with electrolytes and sustainability,” she says. The low-sugar formula not only refreshes but also supports water conservation, using 80% less irrigation than traditional crops.

TOAST-IT: A Bite of Culture

From the bustling streets of Miami, TOAST-IT offers gluten-free Latin American staples like arepas and pandebono bites. Founders Sofia and Diego, a dynamic duo, are passionate about bringing authentic flavors to American kitchens. “Each bite is a celebration of our culture,” Sofia says, while Diego nods in agreement.

¡Ya Oaxaca!: A Tribute to Heritage

¡Ya Oaxaca! from Austin, Texas, is more than a brand; it’s a tribute to Oaxacan culinary heritage. Founder Ana crafts mole sauces, adobos, and salsas with premium, natural ingredients. “Our mission is to share the rich flavors of Oaxaca while prioritizing sustainability and quality,” Ana declares, stirring a pot of fragrant mole.

As the program kicks off, each entrepreneur is paired with a mentor—an expert in areas like research and development, supply chain, and design. This mentorship is more than guidance; it’s a partnership aimed at nurturing these start-ups toward sustainable success.

Esperanza Teasdale, Vice President and General Manager of PepsiCo Beverages North America's Hispanic Business Unit, shares her excitement: “We’re thrilled to witness the continued evolution of these businesses. Last year, we saw incredible growth, and this year, we’re ready to support these new ventures towards even greater heights.”

A Bright Future

At the end of five months, the finalists will present their progress, showcasing how mentorship has propelled their growth. An expert selection committee will choose one finalist to receive an additional $100,000, a significant boost to their journey.

Antonio Escalona, Senior Vice President of Emerging Business for PepsiCo Foods North America, emphasizes the program’s impact: “With access to quality mentorship and resources, this program supports the expansion of innovative ventures and brings forth products that meet evolving consumer tastes.”

Daniel Grubbs, Global Chief Venturing and Investment Officer and Head of PepsiCo Ventures Group adds, “By leveraging the deep expertise within PepsiCo, we are helping to identify and foster the success of these great entrepreneurs.”

As the sun sets on the launch event, the eight finalists leave with a renewed sense of purpose and hope. Their journey with the Greenhouse Accelerator Program: Juntos Crecemos Edition is just beginning, but the seeds of innovation and cultural celebration they sow today promise a bountiful harvest for tomorrow.
