Since graduating in 2011, Botero has embarked on a journey filled with dedication, creativity, and a profound commitment to making a difference. His multifaceted role in the film world as a producer, director, and screenwriter has garnered him numerous accolades and recognition from esteemed institutions and media outlets.


In 2018, Yahoo hailed Botero as "an influential emerging Latino filmmaker," a title he has certainly lived up to in the years that followed. CNN, recognizing the remarkable impact of his work, lauded him as "remarkable and inspirational." But it's not just the media's praise that sets Botero apart; it's his unwavering commitment to his community and philanthropic causes that truly defines his character.


Mayor Buddy Dyer of Orlando, Florida, officially commended Botero for his filmmaking endeavors, highlighting the importance of Botero's work in bridging cultures and fostering understanding through the medium of film. It is this dedication to building bridges and promoting social change that has earned Botero the admiration of many.


Botero's journey has taken him far beyond the borders of Colombia. In 2018 and 2019, the United Nations recognized his talent and commitment by featuring him as a panelist and showcasing his work at their headquarters in New York City. This global recognition further solidified Botero's status as a filmmaker of international caliber.


One of Botero's standout achievements is the creation and direction of three documentary series for the Discovery Network, with "Antarctica" being a groundbreaking milestone. This series marked a historic moment as Botero ventured into the English-language market with content originally produced in Spanish. His ability to transcend language barriers and connect with audiences on a global scale is a testament to his storytelling prowess.


Botero's filmography also includes a documentary directed by Robin Cowie, renowned for his involvement in "The Blair Witch Project." Currently, Botero is in the process of developing a mini-series based on a book by Frank Wool and preparing for the production of a feature film titled "Fireflies," a project he has dedicated over eight years to crafting. Additionally, he is in preproduction for a new series slated for the Discovery Network called "Adoptame," scheduled for shooting in October/November 2023.


Looking ahead, Botero aspires to delve deeper into his future projects, shedding light on the experiences and challenges faced by minorities, immigrants, and refugees worldwide.
